Visual inspection (VT)
Visual Testing (VT) is a non-destructive testing method used to examine welds and materials for surface defects, discontinuities, and deviations from specified requirements.
VT is performed before, during, and after welding to ensure compliance with applicable standards, approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and client specifications.
Scope of Inspection
- Weld surface condition and appearance
- Alignment and dimensional accuracy
- Surface defects (cracks, porosity, undercut, spatter)
- Compliance with WPS requirements
- Fit-up and joint preparation checks
- ITP and client specification verification
Standards & Requirements
Visual Testing is carried out in accordance with applicable international standards, approved ITPs, and client specifications to ensure full compliance and traceability.
Objective
To ensure welded components meet required quality levels, are free from visible defects, and comply with project specifications and applicable standards.
